Sabrina Gehrlein serves as a Community Engagement and Accountability delegate at the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent, stationed at their regional office in Nairobi. With a Master’s degree in psychology and over a decade of experience in international development, social enterprise, and the humanitarian sector, Sabrina embarked on her professional journey in an NGO dedicated to children in prisons. There, she pioneered innovative psycho-social support programs that utilized art as a tool for the effective reintegration of these children into society.

Transitioning to Ashoka, Sabrina played a pivotal role in establishing a system change development program, showcasing her commitment to supporting social entrepreneurs. Returning to the international development and humanitarian sector, she became an enthusiast in research, monitoring, evaluation, and learning and community engagement. Sabrina’s contributions extended to projects spanning sectors such as water, sanitation, and hygiene, climate change adaptation, migration, and protection.

Having lived and worked for a variety of NGOs in diverse locations including South Africa, Madagascar, South Sudan, Jordan, Turkey, and presently in Kenya, she is on a mission to elevate the relevance and effectiveness of humanitarian efforts, ensuring they meet the needs of the communities they aim to serve in a sustainable way.
